Ela Green School Hosts 1st State-Level Chess Tournament: A Grand Success in Nurturing Young Minds

 

Ela Green School, one of the Best Schools in Maraimalainagar, conducted the 1st State Level Chess Tournament on 12th October 2025, in association with King’s Mate Chess Academy. The event school’s journey in fostering the values of strategic thinking, concentration, and sportsmanship to students all over Tamil Nadu students.



With over 300 contestants attending from schools across the state, the event became inclusive on grand scale. Passionate players, between 6 and 18 years of age, participated in the tournament and displayed impressive mental skills and calmness. The newly built and well designed with modern amenities, infrastructure of the school, which is named after plants, provided the appropriate environment for the first grade events of this types.

A Celebration of Strategy and Sportsmanship

It was the Principal of the School who opened the event and spoke on the theme of mental sports being a part of ones education, personally and holistically. The values of patience and discipline all revolve around chess and are the core values of the institution, making the mental game a part of their education promotes these vital skills.

Different age groups were given different categories to encourage equal opportunity and fair competition. Matches were organized following the international FIDE rules and conducted smoothly and professionally thanks to the expertise of King’s Mate Chess Academy. Participants practiced and devoted countless hours for the matches, which made the atmosphere filled with excitement for each calculated move.
