At Ela Green School, learning becomes an adventure. There's no way to encapsulate the feeling of collaboration and joy in a single word. As one of the Best Schools in Maraimalainagar, learning that builds an environment around the needs of the children to foster inspiration in the children to learn, question, and grow, has to be accomplished. Most recently, our enthusiastic and cheerful PYP 2B children, in the company of their teachers, learned the world of language and even got to compound nouns.

Learning to Play and Discover

Our class experiments in discovering and learning to combine smaller words to invent one larger, novel, and more useful compound word gets the class and the teachers, notably, in this case, the primary language teacher, charged and enthusiastic. Children and, in the company of children, the teachers enjoy learning compounds nouns, and invent as and throughout the language class. Very few things can better the primary language class, as a teacher of primary language can vividly and joyfully narrate. Children so enthused, learning to combine smaller words to invent one larger and more useful compound, as and throughout the language class.

A Classroom Filled with Joy and Teamwork

In PYP 2B, the air was vibrant. Pairs shared their word creations and use them in sentences. Students gleefully explained how they created their combinations. Discovering the words “notebook” and “basketball” among others, students felt proud of their creations.

The activity exemplified the essence of teamwork remarkably. Students worked together in brainstorming sessions, fostering constructive and collaborative discussions. Through this shared experience, their social and communication abilities flourished. It aligned perfectly with Ela Green School’s core belief: students learn best when they are emotionally engaged and actively involved in the process.

Building Skills Beyond the Lesson

Even though the primary focus of the day was language, the playful exploration far exceeded the objective of vocabulary. Our young learners also acquired the foundational 21st-century skills of creativity, collaboration, and advanced thinking.
