Independence Day Celebration at ELA Green School – 15th August 2025
On 15th August 2025 the ELA Green School, Maraimalainagar’s
premier IB institution, marked the 79th Independence Day of India in the spirit
of grace and solidarity that has come to define its annual observance. The
campus buzzed with song, dance, and the fragrance of marigold and jasmine
wreaths, freshly woven by our children, as flags of every saffron, white, and
green hue rippled in the emerging sunlight.
The chief guest, Thiru. Aranga Girichandran, distinguished Ward
4 Councillor of the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality, stepped forward to hoist the
tricolor. In a measured voice that cut clearly enough so the last row in the
kindergarten enclosure could hear, he re-called the sacrifice of forgotten
heroes and called each of our 1,300 budding citizens to see in midday markers
and grades a smaller struggle representing the wider fight for dignity.
Education, discipline, and a sense of shared custodianship, he said, are the
continuing liberty for which every young citizen can, and must, still fight.
Adding richness to the assembly, our honoured guest, Ms. Rebeka
Akerele, founder of the celebrated Serve & Shine Home Foods, shared a
visibly felt message on the power of female foresight, micro-enterprise and the
courage to innovate. She argued that schooling go beyond lessons to become a
training ground where heart and name co-brand regional licorice, and at the
very least equip minds that create tomorrow’s marketplaces and mothers of
tomorrow’s markets. Her talk concluded in a soft yet stirring applause memory
that reminded the girls especially, that independence, like education, never
comes free, but rather is translated with initiative after school, and after
training too.
After the flag was raised, children from all grades lit up the
stage with a colorful cultural showcase. They sang patriotic tunes, danced with
lively grace, performed skits, and delivered multilingual speeches, all
reflecting the stunning variety woven into our nation. The crown jewel was a
powerful play that traced the footsteps of our freedom movement; its final bow
left every face within the audience awash with thought. Woven into the very
fabric of the day, the program gave each child a canvas on which to paint their
love for the country and to celebrate its birth into freedom. ELA Green School CBSE
School in Mahindra World City stands as a point of convergence for local and global learning,
and occasions like this remind every child that the international journey
begins here, at home, with the ember of heritage glowing within. The stage may
twinkle with planets from every sky, yet the home drum of Indian roots must
never be left behind, for only with that steady beat can they truly chart new
worlds. After the program, the final notes were sweet and green. Our Eco Club
handed out perky packets of crushed barley sweets that lent each child a shared
taste of the day, while tiny saplings nestled into composted earth just beyond
the courtyard gates. In that moving scene, every student, staff, and mentor
both signed and sealed a simple accord: from the first ring of the bell to the
final bow, a legacy of learning is never simply to be held—rather, its gifts
must always be shared and grown.
The Principal and staff took a moment to salute the exceptional
work of our students and to thank the honored guests for being here today. The
Principal spoke movingly about the power of a well-rounded education, inviting
parents to enroll for the 2025–26
Vijayadasami admissions and join a community where academic rigor
harmoniously intertwines with rich ethical and cultural traditions.
The Independence Day observance at ELA Green School International Schools in Chengalpattu transcended being a typical celebration; it was a
moving reminder that liberty and duty march hand in hand. Each student was
called to appreciate that a vibrant future for our nation rests in their
capable hands and to approach it with the seriousness of purpose it deserves.
As the ceremony closed, ELA Green School rang out with renewed
confidence—a lighthouse of scholarship, national pride, and future readiness in
our region, committed to fanning the sparks of promise in our students so they
may shine brilliantly, here and abroad.
