Learning in Action! – When Syllables Turn Into Smiles at Ela Green School

At Elda Green School, we do not limit learning to just textbooks and chalkboards. Learning is alive, moving, and dancing in our classrooms. These are the days when learning is at its’ best! Today was one of those days. Thanks to our enthusiastic PYP 4 team, we stepped into the world of syllables. And trust us… it was amazing with excitement and giggles all the way!

As one of the most progressive International Syllabus Schools in Tambaram, we understand that the skills of literacy are much more than the ability to read. One must understand the flow of language, the rhythm of the words, and the ability to dissect. Exactly what our learners experienced in the class today.

Words to Music

Every class is supposed to start with a warm-up and this one was no different. This warm-up was supposed to engage the children and get them to understand the idea that every word has its own particular and unique rhythm. The children clapped, tapped, and chanted to create a wonderful learning orchestra in the room. Small word puzzles, butterflies, celebrate, educate and happy were just a few words needed to be decoded.

The learners responded with the same enthusiasm as they broke down big words into syllables as if they were to light the room. The sound of every clap was accompanied with an “aha!” and every giggle was a reminder that joy is an educator as well.

This is the reason why we consider Ela green school as the best among the best cbse schools in Maraimalainagar. As we incorporate hands-on learning technique paradigm with concept based learning and curiosity based learning.

Collaboration + Curiosity = Magic

Today was one of those days where PYP is rooted in inquiry. Children didn't just learn about the syllables. They experienced it. The questions were as follows:

Some words have more beats than others. Why do they?

Given that longer words syllables are more, do we think that it's always the same?

Is it possible to clap a word in a different way and still be right?

With confidence and flair that is the hallmark of PYP, they shared their discoveries.

The reason why families recognize Ela Green school among best cbse affiliated schools in kattankulathur is the kind of learner centered environment in the school. Here, we nurture different kinds of skills, communication, critical thinking and joyful exploration by designing every activity with purpose.

Little Minds. Big Learning. Endless Vibes.

In particular today’s session was highlighting the transformation we observed. Children who once seemed shy to pronounce longer words were now sounding, clapping and saying them like pros. Words that were once big and scary were now exciting, rhythmic, and fun.

The phrases the children chanted like “try again!”, “one more word!”, and “we got this!” highlighted how energized and engaged the children were and how learning could be that meaningful and playful.

For the teachers, the children’s enthusiastic use of movement to learn words was a reminder of the joy of teaching. For the children, learning was not just a subject to be mastered. They were able to have fun and go on a journey with the learning adventure.

Where learning comes alive every day.

Learning is always active, joyful and experiential at Ela Green School, be it literacy, numeracy, science and the arts. As one of the best schools in the region, we have one goal in mind; to help every child become a confident communicator, an engaged thinker, and a lifelong learner.

The syllable session today demonstrated once more that learning is not just effective but also magical, especially when children are encouraged to explore new ideas, laugh and question the world around them, and collaborate.

A school where big ideas bloom and little minds grow. That is the Ela Green School. Learning is always in action!
