Little Hearts, Big Smiles! A Diwali to Remember at Ela Green School

This Diwali, the corridors of Ela Green School glowed brighter than ever — not just with diyas, but with the light of compassion, kindness, and shared joy. Our EYP 3 students proved that even the smallest hearts can create the biggest smiles.

As part of our experiential learning approach, our young learners celebrated the festival of lights in a truly meaningful way. They visited a nearby old age home, carrying not just sweets and diyas, but songs, laughter, and open hearts. What unfolded there was a beautiful exchange — of love, stories, and memories that transcended generations.

For our little ones, Diwali became more than just a festival; it became a lesson in humanity. Sitting beside the elderly, listening to their stories, and singing festive songs together helped the children understand the essence of giving. Every smile shared, every hand held, and every moment spent together added a new spark to the celebration — a spark of empathy.

At Ela Green School, we understand that education goes beyond the four walls of a classroom. As one of the Best International Schools in Maraimalai Nagar, we strive to carve out not only sharp and intelligent minds but also nurturing and empathetic hearts. We integrate real-life experiences in addition to classroom activities, and we encourage students to view education as a means of relating to and interacting with the world around them.

The philosophy is beautifully illustrated in this year’s Diwali initiative. By interacting with the residents of the old age home, our students experienced first hand the invaluable life lessons of elder respect, the importance of sharing, and the kindness. For our students, it was a heartwarming memory that will be etched in their minds forever, a moment of connection and companionship for many of the seniors.

As a CBSE School in Mahindra World City, Ela Green School prides itself on the incorporation of social and emotional learning into the everyday teaching practices. Diwali in particular is one of the holidays that allows us to teach our children life lessons that extend beyond the academic curriculum. Each event is intentionally crafted to teach community citizenship and encourage a global citizen mindset.

We maintain international standards which is why we are one of the most sought after International Syllabus Schools in Tambaram. Thinking globally and acting responsibly, our students appreciate cultural traditions. Great education is built on purpose and self-confidence, both of which are seen in children when they see the joy in the actions.

This Diwali was a celebration which reinforced the teaching that joy is multiplied when shared. The students of the school and the elderly received joy and happiness. Kindness and compassion are in the children, the old and the young, waiting to be kind.

Ela Green School is the best place for teaching children the spirit of the festivals, compassion, and kindness. Our children brightened the world this Diwali! Their smiles made a difference!
