Ela Green School Hosts EGSMUN 2025 – A Student-Led Model United Nations Conference
At Ela
Green School, learning extends far beyond textbooks and classrooms. We were
delighted to host our Second Model United Nations conference – EGSMUN 2025 held
on Friday, 8th August, and Saturday, 9th August 2025 at our campus. What made
this event truly special was that it was a completely student-led initiative
under the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component of the International
Baccalaureate (IB) programme.
The theme
for EGSMUN 2025 was “Diplomacy in a Diverse World.” This theme highlighted the
importance of dialogue, empathy, and collaboration in addressing the complex
global challenges of our time. By stepping into the shoes of diplomats and decision-makers,
our students had the unique opportunity to practice diplomacy, explore diverse
perspectives, and propose constructive solutions to pressing international
issues.
Why EGSMUN 2025 Mattered
MUN
conferences are much more than academic exercises—they are platforms for
developing critical skills that shape young learners into confident,
responsible global citizens. During EGSMUN 2025, which was held on 8th and 9th
August, participants:
• Engaged
with real-world issues such as global peace, climate change, security, and
sustainable development.
• Sharpened
their public speaking abilities by delivering well-structured and convincing
arguments before fellow students.
• Engaged
in negotiation and teamwork, capacities necessary for forging agreement within
diverse assemblies.
•
Cultivated empathy by stepping into the shoes of countries whose experiences
differed markedly from their own.
By
immersing themselves, participants grasped how diplomacy serves as a living
link among cultures and convictions, equipping them for future leadership in an
interconnected world.
A Student-Led Journey of Growth
EGSMUN 2025
stood out because Ela Green learners organized every detail from the ground up.
They designed committees and crafted agendas, handled logistics, and guided
debates, driving every stage of planning and implementation. This experiential
method honed their leadership, organizational, and analytical
capacities—defining attributes of an authentic IB study.
The
conference embodied Ela Green’s guiding principle: students learn by engaging,
creativity is nurtured, and accountability is expected. Parents, educators, and
classmates observed how knowledge translated into purposeful action,
exemplifying the tenets of global citizenship.
Celebrating Our Community
As members
of the Ela Green family, our hearts soared watching our students dive into the
EGSMUN conference. From delegates and chairs to the organizing committee, each
young leader shaped the occasion with purpose and passion, leaving no doubt
that the future is in capable hands.
Our school
has long been a beacon of inquiry and international mindedness, and families
considering IB options near Tambaram experienced that spirit in action at
EGSMUN 2025. As visitors from Chengalpattu and Guduvanchery toured the campus,
they saw—a living, breathing example of the all-round, future-ready education
that distinguishes us.
Looking Back
Held on 8th
and 9th August, EGSMUN 2025 transcended the usual signals of a conference. It
became a vivid celebration of youth leadership, collaboration, and creativity.
Providing students an authentic platform to voice ideas, we equipped them to
greet tomorrow with poise and empathy.
Looking
ahead, we carry the torch lit at EGSMUN 2025. The achievements of this
conference sum to a promise: each year we will widen that platform, hosting
more young diplomats eager to illuminate our common path. With every debate
refresh, we strive to prepare a new generation of leaders determined to build a
kinder, ever-more inclusive world.
