Raising Awareness, Inspiring Change: A Powerful Display of Creativity and Understanding at ELA Green School.

At ELA Green School, our children made stunning posters about the impact of plastic usage on our planet which reflects their artistic skill and also their deep sense of responsibility in environment-related issues. The Impact of Plastic Pollution: A Student Perspective.

Through their individual research for the “impact of plastic pollution” project assigned to all students in the school, they were able to learn about the grim reality of pollution’s effect on air, land, and water ecosystems all around the world and its comprehensive analysis expressed through powerful imagery. The children's creativity shone through as they conceptualized and designed posters depicting the catastrophic effects of air pollution from the burning of plastic, pollution of oceans, and great peril posed to sea creatures.



Key Skills Demonstrated by Our Students

The poster-making project was more than just an artistic activity—it was an educational project that allowed students to cultivate the following important skills:

·         Critial Thinking: Students looked into the impacts of plastic pollution, dissecting its effects on the environment and current practices, leading to the proposing of more sustainable options.

·         Creativity: Students ensured that their messages were not only informative but were also communicated in a striking manner, thus making use of complex artistry.

·         Problem Solving: Many of the posters included practical solutions such as proposed reductions in the usage of single-use plastic, Recycle initiatives, and Eco-Friendly alternatives to everyday items.

·         Collaboration: Several students worked in groups where they pooled their talents to deliver a single powerful message for change.



Learner Profile Traits in Action

At Eggleston, we focus on developing holistic learners that exemplify the traits in the IB learner profile, and this project inspired students to showcase some of the best attributes of the profile.

·         Inquirers: Students sought different sides of plastic pollution, doing research to figure out its origins and causes.

·         Caring: Students displayed empathetic views towards the environment through their vivid portrayals of art discussing sustainability.

·         Thinkers: Students used reasoning skills and problem-solving techniques to tackle ways and suggest solutions around the problem of plastic pollution.

·         Communicators: The Eye-Catching and Effective Posters inspired their peers and the community to take action against plastic waste.
