Finding the Relationships of Our Community Helpers: A Field Trip to the Police and Fire Stations!

At Ela Green School, we appreciate that every child is away from home and would have to undergo this type of learning in the real world. Our EYP 3 students, as part of the continuing learning unit, ‘community helpers’ undertook a fascinating field trip to the police station and the fire station. This adventure offered them an opportunity to appreciate the services rendered by these ordinary heroes in society.

Firefighter: An Adventure within the Fire Department’s Place

The division to fight fire was accompanied by a sense of wonder as the scholars came into contact with the different tools that were in use by the firefighters. Students were excited and curious as they experienced the sights of fire trucks, hoses, and ladders, and such tools as the fire weapons themselves were even allowed to use! This was great since it taught the children how such professionals respond to callouts and how special it is to save property, or rather lives, professionally.

A Study Trip to the Police Station

The excursion to the police station was as exciting as the previous two activities. The students were curious about the different forms of policing, especially after they were given a tour of the lock-up area. The students especially understand how police officers enforce the law for the greater good. They talked about the law with the officers, which shows that the law is very human-friendly for the protection of people and the community. The officers exemplified teamwork, responsibility, and courage in their day-to-day lives in trying to uphold law and order.

Thanks to Our Community Helpers Who Help Us with All Operations in Our Centre

As a way of appreciating the great efforts of police officers and firefighters, the students made several greeting cards that inspired great love for helping the community, even thanking them. The cards were all filled with appreciation and acknowledgments of these community helpers as heroes who take up the responsibility of protecting and serving others. Students’ kind acts put smiles on officers’ and firefighters’ faces, showing how valuable love and gratitude are.

A memorable learning experience

While this field trip was indeed enjoyable, it was also a very rewarding experience, which helped our young learners understand the courage behind the people who risk their lives for the community every day. Through this adventure, they gained a deeper understanding of the essential roles that police officers and firefighters play, all while fostering a sense of gratitude and respect for those who protect us.

At Ela Green School, we strive to create valuable experiences that engender interest and contribute to forming a healthy relationship with the surrounding world.
