Ela Green Goes Green (Again!) With a Sparkling Christmas Tree

Image
Hold your neck snaps, folks! Ela Green School may have just redecorated gravity with our dazzling Christmas tree, and it’s a sight to behold… without the sore shoulder, that is. This year, we ditched the traditional fir for something a little more unconventional (and sustainable, of course) — a towering tree made entirely of recycled 7UP and Sprite bottles! Remember the mountains of plastic bottles left after every school function? Yep, those. We’ve given them a new life, transforming them from potential landfill dwellers into twinkling, shimmering ornaments fit for a plastic-free paradise. But this isn’t just about decking the halls with recycled goods (though, let’s be honest, it’s pretty darn cool). It’s about sending a message: every little thing, even the seemingly useless, can be reborn into something beautiful and meaningful. ♻ Think of it this way: every bottle on this tree represents a small step towards a cleaner planet. It’s a reminder that even a seemingly insignificant c

Ela Green School Celebrates Christmas with Joy and Sustainability

Christmas has arrived at  Ela Green School , and the festive spirit is in full swing! Our campus is transformed into a winter wonderland, with twinkling lights, cheerful decorations, and the sweet scent of gingerbread wafting through the air. But at Ela Green, we celebrate Christmas not just with merriment, but also with a focus on sustainability and inclusivity. Festive Activities with a Green Twist Eco-friendly Ornament Making:  Instead of using traditional plastic ornaments, our students are getting creative with recycled materials like paper, cardboard, and old CDs. They’re also decorating pinecones, leaves, and twigs collected from the school grounds, creating beautiful and unique decorations that are kind to the environment. Sustainable Gift Wrapping:  We’re ditching the wasteful wrapping paper this year and opting for reusable fabric bags, newspaper, or even colorful scarves. This not only reduces our environmental footprint but also adds a personal touch to gift-giving. Upcyc

Preserving the Rich Tapestry: Empowering the Irular Tribe

Image
We embark on a journey into the heart of the Irular tribe, a vibrant community nestled in South India, renowned for its rich cultural tapestry and profound connection to nature. A Heritage at Crossroads: The Irular tribe boasts a unique cultural heritage, woven from ancient traditions, customs, and a language as rich as the earth they tread. However, with the winds of globalization sweeping across the land, this heritage faces the threat of fading away. Limited access to digital platforms hinders their ability to share their stories and knowledge with the wider world, risking the loss of their precious legacy. Challenges Beyond the Surface: Sadly, the Irular community also grapples with ongoing discrimination and limited access to basic necessities. Despite projects like “Vazhndhu Kattuvom,” intended to uplift these communities, the impact often remains minimal, especially in the remote areas where they reside. They struggle against unfair portrayals in media like the movie “Jai Bhim

How Tall Are We? A Journey of Exploration and Friendship at Ela Green School

Image
At  Ela Green School , we believe in nurturing a love for learning through hands-on experiences and playful exploration. Recently, our youngest students embarked on a delightful adventure to answer a question that sparks wonder in every child: How tall are we? Armed with notebooks, slates, and their imaginations, the little ones transformed everyday objects into measuring tools. Ice cream sticks became rulers, pencils morphed into measuring tapes, and even chocolates found a purpose, serving as markers on the journey to self-discovery. Laughter filled the air as they compared heights, their faces aglow with curiosity and joy. The classroom buzzed with energetic questions and playful declarations of “I’m taller!” and “You’re shorter!” Each comparison was met with enthusiastic gestures and animated discussions, showcasing the unique personalities and perspectives of each child. But the exploration went beyond mere measurement. A vibrant song filled the room, adding a rhythmic beat to t
